"Oskar", is a century old house in the centre of the village of Usclas d'Herault. The village is set amongst vineyards is a great base for a holiday in southern France. The house has been tastefully renovated and modernly furnished. You can wake up to a cup of coffee on the balcony overlooking the village square, and relax at the end of a day's touring with a glass of wine on the decking.

The house is light and spacious. Downstairs is open plan, with a fully-equipped kitchen, lounge and a dining room which flows naturally onto the rear patio and 100 sq.m garden. There is a separate laundry with washing machine and extra toilet.

Upstairs there are two bedrooms, a bathroom and a reading room which extends onto a balcony overlooking the clock tower at the heart of the 14th Century village. The reading room has a child's bed, and can also be set up with two extra beds.

The front garden is a secluded courtyard which gets afternoon sun, creating warmth for a lunch outdoors even in the colder months.

Although a little closer to Paulhan, the charming town of Pezenas is just 10 minutes away for shopping, restaurants or simply a cup of coffee at a street cafe.

SIGHTSEEING
Our favourite trips include a drive through the mountains, which start just 15mins away. In June you can get beautiful cherries, and later in summer regional peaches and apricots. Try a lunch in Roquebrun at the restaurant by the river. Pont du Diable is worth to drive past – with a swim in the river - on your way to the medieval village of St Guilhem le Dčsert, and further north, the Cirque de Navacelless. The historical seaside towns of Sčte and Agde are well worth a visit. The university city of Montpellier offers great shopping and historical sites, and if you wish to go a bit further afield the Riviera is a 3hr drive away.

BEACHES
The nearest is Marseillan-plage which is less than 30mins away. Valras and Sčrignan plages south of Bčziers are very nice.

DINING
There are many good restaurants in the area offering fantastic food and wine at reasonable prices. Pezenas, the historic market town only 10mins away by car has several. We enjoy the harbour in Marseillan, which has several restaurants by the water. Noilly Prat for making martinis is produced in Marseillan, and you can tour their distillery, and taste, naturellement.

A moules frites and a bottle of the local wine Pic Poul is a must. Bouzigues, near Mčze, is the place to go to have fresh oysters. There is a also local bar/restaurant in Cazouls, a short walk from the village.
