I found your article both highly amusing and enlightening. I lived in France for 4 years in the early nineties but family commitments took me back to the UK, and it was quite a wrench to have to leave. We are now considering moving back to France and having that quality of life that we are short of here.
I wondered if you had any knowledge of the planning permission regulations in France, or if you could point me in the right direction? I would like to buy some land and build timber framed, chalet-type structures that in the UK wouldn't be classed as permanent as one could dismantle them. Is there anywhere I can find this type of info?
