Anyone toying with the idea of a permanent move to Languedoc will be heartened to hear that according to recent research by currency exchange provider HiFX, France is one of the least stressful countries to move to*.
For the purposes of research, a formula was developed to assess ten factors that contribute to the stress of emigration, namely civil stability, legalities, currency, quality of life, social services, distance, language, tax, visas and cultural idiosyncracies.
France was found to be one of the least stressful of places to move to, achieving a 9th place score of just 44 per cent. Now while we’d never claim that upping sticks and coming to live in Languedoc was all plain sailing (getting into the healthcare and social security system was particularly fun!), finding, renting and subsequently buying property in the south of France was frankly a walk in the park compared with the stress of doing the same thing in the UK.
And now that Creme de Languedoc exists, with its informative property news pages and valuable Languedoc property advice from those who have boldly gone before, house hunting in the Languedoc-Roussillon region is even easier than before.
