WHEN to come?

Languedoc gets over 300 days of sunshine - but it's not always warm, and there are rainy seasons. So knowing what the weather will be like at different times of the year can have a big impact on your holiday here.

The links to the right should give you all you need to plan your trip weather-wise - from the current forecast, to annual statistics, to a rundown of the weather by season and by month.

Below that - click 'Top 25 Annual Events' to see when the very best festivals and events are on in the region each year - so that you can plan your trip to coincide with one or two of them.

WHERE to stay?

Not all of Languedoc is gorgeous. And not quite all of it is Mediterraean. So when you're looking for that perfect holiday home, hotel or B&B, make sure you're only considering ones in areas that are right for you.

Click 'Which areas are best to stay in?' to the right - and find out what the weather is like in different parts of Languedoc, which areas are most built up, which areas are prettiest, and which are sunniest and wettest. The map on that page also shows where all the top sights and beaches are, and the placement of all airports, motorways, rivers and lakes. All so that you don't end up in the wrong area.

About Languedoc's Weather

Languedoc weather isn't just a case of day after day of sunshine and heat. If you thought Languedoc was just about sun, sea and sand, think again. With the amazing variety in terrain comes an amazing variety in the region's weather - from blistering heat in summer to icy cold in winter.

Languedoc weather is intense: in autumn, you might experience rain bucketing down for days at a time causing serious flooding. In winter, this mediterranean paradise is blanketed in frost and sometimes snow. In spring, the hills are carpeted in wild flowers. And in summer, heatwaves parch the land and even make the sea warm to swim in.

Our Languedoc weather section brings the weather of Languedoc Roussillon, south France, to life. In our 'Languedoc Weather Forecast' page - we give you a 4-day weather forecast for Languedoc based on statistics from Meteo France. We also display weather maps for all of France, and give you weather forecasts for any city of village.

In our 'Weather Statistics' page, we chart just how Languedoc's weather differs to that of a northern European country such as the United Kingdom. Our charts prove that Languedoc is indeed far sunnier and warmer, but also show just how cold and wet it can be at times.

The 'When To Visit' page gives a run down of the weather you can expect for each month of the year - with advice on when's best to visit the Languedoc-Roussillon region.

And lastly, in our 'Languedoc's Seasons' page, we chart the incredible changes in Languedoc weather from season to season - giving you an idea not only of how Languedoc's weather changes but also what effects those changes have on plant and animal life.
