Pouzolles is a languedoc village of 1001 inhabitants located at the heart of the vineyards, 30 km of the Mediterranean beaches, near Pézenas, the city of Molière's rich inheritance, near Béziers known for its feria, and near Montpellier (70 km), the regional capital.
Here one finds many testimonies of the Roman occupation. As of the eleventh century, the name of Pouzolles is mentioned in a number of charters and would mean "oil well", probably because of the existence of sources of oil in the vicinity.
The village is dominated by the chateau and its two turrets and by the church, built at the site of the ramparts. One of the vestiges, the gate Saint Martin, formerly defended by a harrow, is still visible.
The activity of the village is centred aorund wine making: the vine occupies the greatest part of the territory of the commune. With the efforts of all the wine growers for the reorganisation of the vineyard and the contribution of new type of vines, the co-operative Cellar "«Les Vignerons de Pouzolles-Margon» produces local wines of the "Pays des Côtes de Thongue", of excellent quality.
Also the private winery of world renown, 'Domaine de L'Arjolle', is located in village.
The summer, in the shade of the secular plane trees of the esplanade, the Local Festival Committee organises very famous brasucades.
