The medieval village of Trebes is approximately 10 minutes by car east of Carcassonne.It is on the main gateway to the Minervois wine region.There are numerous bars,restaurants,shops and commercial concerns clustered around the Port Du Plaisance.It is one of the main bases for boat hire on the Canal Du Midi.The ancient part of the village was settled by the romans who built a garrison here at the time Carcassonne was originally fortified.The beautiful thirteenth century Eglise St Etienne houses a number of historic national treasures including scores of roof beams paited with the faces of local fourteenth century townspeople.Please take a look at my site
