The beautiful port of Marseillan lies between the larger towns of Agde and Sete, with the Canal du Midi right on the doorstep! Marseillan actually lies on ‘Le Basin de Thau’ (where the best shell fish in the world is farmed).Rick Steins French Odyssey, showed him visit the distillery of Noilly Prat in the town centre. Marseillan town is very well equipped with restaurants, bars, wine co-operatives and shops, many of which are located on the picturesque harbour.
Fishing, sailing lessons, and boat hire, wine tasting in abundance in the local co-operatives and multitude of surrounding vineyards. Well known wines from the region include; Cotes du Roussillian, Corbiere, Minervois, and Pic Poule.
The mediteranian is only 7km away, offering miles of sandy beaches and safe bathing. Spanish boarder is 1hr 30mins drive away, and the Languedociene motorway (Aa) passes along the whole south coast.
The nearest airport is Montpellier which is 45mins drive. Ryan Air flies direct from London stanstead, luton and liverpool.
