Excellent public transport links to Marseillan and the beaches, the airport at Montpellier and the TGV network linking major European capital cities, yet a walk from the river Herault and the Canal du Midi, the city of Agde is as much a hub today as it was in the days of the ancient greeks who founded the community. Charming and delightful, the centuries-old streets are home to fishmongers and potters, to boutiques and cafes, waterside bistros and market cafes. The narrowest of ruelles open out into unexpected squares with glimpses of the river, the fishing boats and the jousting teams plying the waters as they have done for hundreds of years. Fast and frequent public transport links to Montpelier, Beziers, Narbonne, Perpignan, Sete, Marseille and beyond. Riverbuses and water taxis to Le Grau d'Agde and the Med. The Canal du Midi passes through the town, and there is nightly music and dancing at the Guinguette by the waterside and, for more contemporary thrills, a vibrant club scene nearby.

On the promenade of the city walls, above the bustling market and amongst the age-old streets of artists and artisans, a stroll from the river banks and an easy walk from the station for the London and Paris trains, this renovated apartment with its exposed stone walls and heavy roof beams is tucked away in a private courtyard overlooking the fountain of Marianne.
Then let yourself through the gates into the courtyard. The apartment is on the top floor and looks out over this animated corner of town.
Our one bedroom apartment has been completely renovated for 2007.
A corner kitchen in the living room opens out into the main salon sejour, with dining table, comfortable sofa (which converts into an extra bed) TV and the little balcony for watching the comings and goings on market day and listening to the songs of street musicians on a summer's evening.
Off the living room is the cosy bedroom with its double bed and the bathroom with its brand new massaging jet power shower.
The apartment is ideal as a fortnight's holiday retreat for couples or a weekend base for a short visit, or a midweek bolthole for property hunters.
