Nestling amongst vineyards in the foothills of the Cevenne mountains the sleepy hamlet of Le Barry is a five minute walk from the centre of Montpeyroux.
La Ruine is a three storey 17th century village house which housed a winemakers family for generations it has been newly restored to a very high standard and well furnished throughout. The rooms are spacious and light incorporating as many original features as possible, but all comforts included. The large, southfacing, sunny terrace is totally private and protected by high walls either side opening on to spectacular views over the vineyards to the ruined castle.
Entry is at street level into a large vaulted general storage area containing an automatic washing machine, a straight staircase leads to the large open-plan kitchen/dining area with a cathedral ceiling and exposed beams. The exposed stone walls and a large open fireplace contribute to the authentic feel of this typical village house. Windows overlook the quiet no-through road that leads to the ruined castle. The modern fully equipped kitchen has a fridge freezer and gas cooker. The spacious living area adjoins the kitchen and is well furnished with sofa and chairs and fireplace (not yet in use). Double french windows lead to the large sunny terrace with gas barbecue and outdoor furniture.
A handcrafted wooden staircase leads to mezzanine level.
where you will find a double bedded room and a twin bedded room both equipped with sinks and wardrobes and double french windows onto a balcony overlooking the vineyards and castle. A modern bathroom with twin sinks, shower and WC is also on this floor.
