Poilhes has 2 lovely restaurants, only a couple of minutes' walk from the villa. Capestang is the nearest large village and is only 5 minutes drive away. Here there is a large supermarket, petrol station and a good variety of shops and restaurants. The Canal du Midi meanders through the centre of Poilhes and is ideal for a walk or cycle ride along the shady towpath; or hire a boat or take one of the many excursions on offer from Capestang. Fifteen minutes east of Poilhes is Beziers where you can stroll through the famous Friday Flower Market and Cathedral, and 20 minutes from Poilhes are some of the most enticing beaches in the Mediterranean. A half hour's drive south are the Roman ruins and the cathedral of Narbonne. Just outside Narbonne one can visit the magnificently restored Cistercian monastery of Fontfroide, where an incident which sparked the first Albigensian Crusade was reputed to have happened. For those with an interest in the Middle Ages, there are the Cathar castles such as Minerve, situated between two deep gorges, and Carcassonne, an intact Medieval city and the site of many an historical film. This is the ideal location to provide a relaxing holiday base, whilst being within easy reach of local attractions and activities. The Mediterranean coast is 20/30 minutes drive and Montpellier, the thriving capital of the Languedoc with its international airport, is 45 minutes away by car.

Enter through the front door into the living area which has 2 comfy sofas, a coffee table, a music centre and a TV with English channels and is very attractively furnished.

The living area is open plan to the dining area and the kitchen. The dining area has a lovely wooden table with 6 chairs and a dresser and doors to the front terrace by the pool.

The kitchen is very smart and is extremely well-equipped with an electric oven, 4 hobs, a fridge freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, coffee maker and a breakfast bar with 2 stools. Windows look onto the Canal and a side door leads to the front terrace where you will find the BBQ.

There are 2 bedrooms on the ground floor, both have double beds. Bedroom 1 has a TV with French channels and windows looking onto the pool area. Bedroom 2 has windows looking over the Canal.

Bathroom with bath, shower attachment and basin. Separate WC.

Bedroom 3 is on the first floor via stairs from the living area and has an ensuite shower with basin and WC.

From the lounge, there are French doors onto a large terrace which overlooks the Canal du Midi.

The terrace has a table, 4 chairs and a parasol and is the perfect spot to watch the boats go by on the Canal while sipping a chilled glass of wine. As evening falls you can either wander up to one of the 2 restaurants in the village or fire up the gas BBQ on the terrace!

On the other side of the house, accessed from the dining area, is the front terrace which overlooks the pool and has a small table and chairs.

The pool is 7m x 4m and has a patio surround with 4 sunloungers. It has the sun all day long.

The garden has a shaded grassed area and many Mediterranean plants, shrubs and trees such as olives and palms. There are also patio and gravel areas so plenty of places to put your sunbed and read your book.


There is space for one car on the drive and one outside the property.
