It is situated on the Bassin de Thau (the large inland lagoon connected to the Med) and is an important centre for oyster and mussel farming. Huge oyster beds are a local industry and seafood is available everywhere. Sete has 12 kms of fine sandy beaches which has received the award of Pavillon Bleu ( The Blue Flag )for the high quality of the water. Sete enjoys 300 days of sun per year and the canals have given Sete the nickname "Little Venice". This charming and lively city has a long tradition as a major Mediterranean harbour. Visitors will enjoy watching the traditional jousting on the canal, walks in the typical and colourful Southern city and exciting seatrips. The holiday resort of Cap dAgde has 14 kms of fine beaches and many attractions for children including Toonland; and the famous Aqualand; with it’s giant flumes and water slides.
