Everyone is welcome with dancing following the evening meal. If you are a keen cyclist, Languedoc makes a great training ground. The owners have designed 7 training rides so from the day you arrive, there's no need to worry about finding a training course. Just get up and go . But be aware there are no flat roads in the Languedoc!!!!! Luckily most rides finish with a lovely downhill! Only 20 minutes away is a 15 mile stretch of wonderful sandy beaches. Half an hour to the north is the staggeringly beautiful Languedoc Nature Park, where activities include lake and river swimming, canoeing, horse riding, cycling, rambling and bird watching, all in spectacular surroundings. The property is in the heart of an excellent wine-producing region, with many chateaux and domaines for wine tasting and purchasing. Good value and gourmet restaurants are within easy reach. Béziers town is approximately 10-15 minutes away by car with its bustling boulevard overflowing with restaurants, café bars and markets throughout the week; the famous flower market on a Friday. The Cathedral in the heart of the town overlooks the Canal du Midi. In the month of August, Beziers comes alive during the ‘Feria’ with concerts, street musicians, craft stalls and exotic food stands. Montpellier is just over an hour away, and offers excellent shopping and hypermarkets. Enjoy the superb tram system, alight at the 'Palace de Comedie' for sightseeing and refreshment. For a slice of culture you could visit Castillet an old fortress built in the 14th Century housing an art history museum. This is one of the most popular sights of Perpignan. The beaches of the Mediterranean are only a short drive away, while to the north the mountains offer a number of cooler lakes, ideal for a refreshing dip in the summer. Cathar history is present almost everywhere and the ancient fortress of Carcassonne is only an hours drive away. Enthusiastic visitors can enjoy a great variety of activities including hiking, biking, swimming, fishing, water sports, canoeing and river rafting, horse riding, tennis and golf. Pézenas has a large open-air market every Saturday which is well worth a visit. The town boasts that it was once the home of Molière and there are many craft shops, restaurants and beautiful buildings. During July and August on a Wednesday and Friday the craft shops are open until midnight and you will often find street theatre groups to entertain you ! Several good golf courses are within easy reach, Golf Saint Thomas at Béziers, approx 15 minutes drive – see www.golfsaintthomas.com/english/ The beautiful tree-lined Canal du Midi which links the Atlantic with the Mediterranean has miles of flat walks along the shady tow paths. Cap d’Agde (20 minutes) has beaches and water sports, boat trips, beautiful harbour, golf, casino, fashionable shopping, nightclubs, waterfront restaurants, several children’s theme parks and a fabulous water park (Aqualand). Carcassonne castle is well worth a visit, especially on jousting days.
