Backing onto its favorite mountain, the Puech Belet, Murviel patiently awaits its visitors, like on oracle receiving its aduience. Make your way around the "circulade", through the maze of narrow, steep streest, weaving between porches and arches, then onto the town hall castle and the church. The view from the terrace is circular - obviously - and stretches over the rooftops of Murviel, the plain of Béziers and the first mountains of the Haut-Languedoc. The valley of the Orb is also quite nearby. Until the 19th century, Murviel lived off multiple cropping and livestock farming, The olive tree was formerly the true lord here, the vine taking only a secondary position. While olive trees can still be found, today the vine is the true Lady. In the surrounding countryside, former pigeon houses proudly stand tall awaiting their tennants.
