Guided wine tastings, courses and tours in Languedoc, south France

The world's largest wine-producing region offers endless opportunities for wine tasting. But with so many wines, and such variety, where do you start? A guided wine-tasting, a wine tour, or a wine course is a great way to learn more about the wines of this region - and there are more and more domains and wine schools that offer just that.

At the Vinecole wine school, just south of Carcassonne, Master of Wines Matthew Stubbs offers a wide range of wine tasting events (of varying length), as well as all sorts of wine courses and seminars. The wine school, located in a wine domain, also offers luxury gîte accommodation, and there's a lovely restaurant and pool on site too.

The accommodation

Activities Languedoc is run by Sara Sarkozi who organises a variety of half-day or full-days out for people who are staying in Languedoc. Her wine tours are for wine-lovers, not connoisseurs. If you would like to learn how wine is made and taste some great local wines without feeling embarrassed at your lack of expert knowledge, these tours are for you!

You will visit 1-3 wine estates over 1.5 - 6 hours, depending on the tour you choose. Sara also offer wine tours with lunch and a historical tour of Pezenas at the end. You will be accompanied - transport is available if you don't have your own - and at each wine estate you will be taken around by an English-speaking member of the domaine staff.

You'll walk through the vineyards and learn how the vines are grown, see the whole production process from grape-pressing to bottling, and finally taste the wines grown at each estate, with an opportunity to buy at domaine prices.

These are day-trips for up to 8 people. If you're a couple, you'll find yourself with like-minded people, all out to have a good time as a small part of their Languedoc holiday!

""All the wine estates are within 30 minutes of Pezenas and date back 3-400 years. You will have a chance to visit some beautiful old buildings as part of your tour.

One Day Vineyard Tour of La Clape

This sea side wine producing sub-region in the famous Corbières region produces excellent wines and is the appellation Coteaux du Languedoc La Clape which is bordered by the mountains to the north and the Mediterranean Sea to the south.   The first vines were planted here over 2000 years ago by the Romans when the area was given to a loyal subject of Julius Cesar.  Narbonne is fondly called “the cradle of the vines”.

Our first vineyard is high in the Massif of the La Clape Mountains overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.  We will then take a short drive down to the seaside and dine on local specialties whilst overlooking the sea!

Our second vineyard is near to the port of Gruissan with three hundred years of history and is renowned for its excellent wines.

Our third vineyard is just on the seafront and you will be enchanted by the sublime wines that are produced here with hints of Iodine from the sea beautiful!

If you are staying in the area then we will pick you up and return you to your accommodation and includes all transport throughout the day.  We will meet you on the sea front in St Pierre la Mer where there is safe free public parking.  The tour includes all transport during the day, all visits to vineyards and wine tastings and lunch in a local restaurant of excellent quality accompanied by local wines.

This is just one example of our wine tours, they are suitable for all levels of wine lovers and all we ask is that you relax and enjoy your time in beautiful Languedoc!
