Walking and nature holidays in Languedoc, south France

Languedoc is a walker's paradise. Superb weather, gorgeous countryside and great food and wine make it an absolute pleasure to walk across. So if you're keen to find a great walking or nature holiday in Languedoc, you're in luck. Three mountain ranges span the region, the Pyrénées, the Cévennes and the Black Mountains. All offer spectacular views, often of the Mediterranean. And the lower hills, covered in vines, also offer lots of great walking opportunities.

You'll also enjoy 300 days of sunshine, and the region's wildlife includes vultures, golden eagles, wild boar and a wide variety of fish.

Of course, you can walk the region by yourself. But a guided walking holiday gives you access to inside knowledge about the best walks in any particular area, and your guides can also make sure you end up in the best local restaurants and wine-tasting domains.

""We are always happy to tailor-make a trip to suit your needs and interests. These holidays can concentrate on certain aspects of the region. The walks, accommodation, meals and trip length can all be adapted to suit you, whether you are on you own or a group of 40. All you need to do is walk, relax and soak up the views.

Although the holiday arrangements are made by us, we work in association with Specialised Travel Limited and are fully covered by their membership of ABTA and ATOL.

Where is it?
We offer four very different holidays which, between them, reveal the great diversity of landscapes across the Languedoc Roussillon Pyreneen foothills of the Fenouillédes, the Gorges of the Tarn and Jonte, the Cathar castles of the Corbières and the spectacular Cévennes national park.
Who runs it?

""Richard Whibley and Sarah Wright. In 1994 Richard moved to the Roussillon, met his wife Lisa, a local district nurse, and has been living and working there since. He is a fluent French speaker and is well integrated in to the local community; he loves the relaxed way of life, the breath-taking landscapes, the great food and excellent local wines. Richard  started Agly Walking Tours to share his passion and knowledge of this remarkable region with other walkers. Sarah Wright studied tourism management and after graduating, specialised in running walking holidays across Europe. After many years of organising tours in France, Portugal, Spain and Italy, Sarah came to realise that, for her, nowhere beat the Languedoc Roussillon. Sarah lives in a tiny hamlet in the foothills of the Cévennes with her husband Dan. She never tires of discovering new walking routes here and elsewhere and combines her love of walking with a passion for photography.

After 13 years living and working in Paris, I then spent 8 in clean, green New Zealand, latterly running a luxury eco-lodge and have now fallen in love with the spectacular arid landscapes of the Corbières Maritimes and of course, the wonderful mediterranean climate!

Your stay will be co-hosted by Timbah the 13 year old lab cross (well travelled rescue dog from NZ!) and Mr Momo, an attractive, though rather self opinionated grey cat who has adopted us, both are friendly and well behaved.
